I’d like to know some more about the Swiss backpacks.

What is the difference between the Ord.1898 and Ord.1898/1942 Tornisters?

What units/who would use the Tornister Ord.1975/98 and in what years?

Hi Oliver

Now in terms of shape, these tornisters hardly differ. The change is in the lid, which can be removed to create a lightweight combat pack.

The tornister were used by the infantry until the 1970s, because you were not retrofitted with the new material (if you had the tornister in the recruit school, you had it until the end of your service).

The tornister was replaced by the Ord. 1950 backpack.
